----- Episode 1 :Intro to Network Services with CloudStack ----- Episode 2: Network with CloudStack- Security Groups ----- Episode 3: Networking with CloudStack - VPN----- Episode 4: Networking with CloudStack: Redundant Router----- Episode 5: Networking with CloudStack- Firewall ----- Episode 6: Networking with CloudStack- Load Balancing----- Episode ...
Automated XenApp CloudFormation

Using Powershell & Amazon CloudFormation I first started building proof of concepts in the Amazon cloud over two years ago. You can read about all of them here. We've come a long way with the recent developments we have been working on with Amazon. Since then, Amazon has released some new tools that make a datacenter in the cloud very apetizing. Recent tools now allow ...
Pizza and Clouds – Reloaded
In a recent post I argued that enterprise IT's distrust of service provider Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is often based on lack of understanding. In particular the unfamiliar nature of the API-centric, services-based architecture of IaaS, by comparison with the concrete feeds+speeds of today's physical IT world, leaves many IT Pros cold. Of late I've found myself using an analogy of buying Pizza ...
VMware Project Redwood = Dead Wood?
It's widely acknowledged that the combined ingenuity of the Amazon Web Service team and the creative and fast-moving Xen community led to the creation of the first Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Cloud - Amazon EC2 - as far back as 2006. So it has been interesting to see VMware attempt to co-opt the concept and turn a profound capability that ...
Security Groups in Amazon EC2

For XenApp farms in EC2In a previous post, I talked about how to build a XenApp Farm in Amazon EC2. I was reminded through a comment on the post, that a XenApp Farm usually is deployed with certain degrees of security separation between the servers. Having left that out of the Deployment Guide, I decided to create an additional deployment guide that shows ...

Cloud Computing – Private and Public
One hundred and fifty billion dollars! That's $150,000,000,000 or €107,635,000,000 or ¥14,458,000,000,000. In any currency we are talking about a lot of money. According to some estimates this represents the total projected revenues for Cloud Computing by 2013. Don't you wish you could capture just a small percentage of that total market? Just think, a 2% capture rate would yield $3,000,000,000 or €2,152,700,000 or ¥289,160,000,000... still a ...
Cloud Burst

Cloud Networking is secure and robust You can create a complete end-to-end network from one cloud network, running on XenServer, through a VPN to another network in a different cloud. All servers and hosts communicate securely over SSL VPN. Amazon Machine Images are secured by the Amazon infrastructure using security groups. The proof of concept speaks for itself. Between the Softlayer cloud ...
How to get your own Citrix XenApp server in EC2 for 12 cents & 15 min.
OK, actually it's 12.5 cents and it might take you a few minutes longer, but compared to the traditional methods of building/configuring servers the cost and time savings is dramatic. It is now possible to launch a pre-built XenApp image in the Amazon Web Service offering called EC2. The image includes XenApp 5.0 on Windows 2003 Server ready to run and is accessible as an ...
