Intergraph is a leading global provider of engineering and geospatial software that enables customers to visualize complex data. Businesses and governments in more than 60 countries rely on Intergraph’s industry-specific software. Recently it was announced, here on the NVIDIA website, that Intergraph have virtualised SmartPlant Review and Smart 3D using Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp and HDX 3D Pro, accelerated by NVIDIA GRID GPU acceleration.

SmartPlant® Review is a complete visualisation environment for interactively reviewing and analyzing large, complex 3D models of process and power plants. It a fascinating product, allowing designers but also casual users to explore their way around oil rigs, ships and factories, this video on YouTube gives a great visual demonstration of how virtualising this type of product could be useful. Virtualising with Citrix XenDesktop and HDX 3D Pro frees users from workstations (read here for more details) allowing mobility anywhere on any device, HDX 3D Pro supports Android, Linux, HTML5, Windows, iOS and Mac end points so a maintenance engineer out on the oil rig could pull up the latest engineering plans on a tablet or smart phone while keeping those highly sensitive proprietary plans safe in the data centre.

Smart 3D is a high-end suite of complementary software that provides the capabilities needed to design a plant from scratch and then keep it as-built throughout its life cycle.

Intergraph join a whole host of ISVs Citrix certifying rich graphical 3D and CAD/AEC applications such as Adobe Photoshop, ESRI ArcGIS, Siemens NX and Teamcenter, Autodesk applications, PTC Creo….for use with Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp.
