Here at Citrix we are pleased to announce the next generation of XenApp with XenApp 7.5 –built on the same FlexCast Management Architecture (FMA) as XenDesktop, XenApp remains the industry-leading solution for virtual application delivery, providing Windows apps as secure mobile services. Now better than ever, reaping from the same benefits of XenDesktop, it includes hybrid cloud provisioning providing cloud-ready application and desktop service delivery from any type of private, public and hybrid cloud enabling enterprises to couple cloud computing with application and desktop virtualization to realize the combined resource optimization, infrastructure agility and economic benefits from a single platform. But hybrid cloud provisioning is just one of many new innovations to be included with XenApp 7.5. We have radically simplified the core architecture to allow admins to deliver virtual apps and desktops for various server operating systems all under a single configuration and management framework. Manage your server-based desktops and Windows apps all from Windows Server 2008R2, Server 2012 and Server 2012R2. Of course, the newly redesigned architecture has only enhanced the existing secure-by-design, scalable, cost effective solution you have known and valued for years. It’s never been simpler to deliver any Windows app to an increasingly mobile workforce, all while leveraging the cost saving and elasticity of hybrid clouds and the security of mobile device management.
But enough about the features, I’m sure you are anxious to get your hands on the actual product and see them for yourself. So, how do you try XenApp 7.5? Well we have improved that as well. You can download a XenApp 7.5 Do-It-Yourself Trial that provides you with all the software including XenServer to make it easy to virtualize the trial environment, StoreFront 2.5 for the latest app store features, and in case you haven’t heard XenApp 7.5 platinum also includes AppDNA which is available for download as part of the trial. So let’s give you all the info you need to get going:
How long is the trial? You can download the XenApp software and get up and running for 30-days and 10-users without any licenses. If you want to share XenApp 7.5 with even more users, you can allocate the eval license included with the trial to expand the environment to 99-users and 90-days making it easy to show everyone all the benefits XenApp can deliver.
How do I configure the environment? Although this release of XenApp is very easy to install and configure, we want to make sure you have everything you need to be successful, so Citrix XenApp Tech Marketing expert Mayunk Jain has kindly created a XenApp 7.5 Reviewer’s Guide that provides you with step-by-step instructions of the installation and an explanation of all the new features you can evaluate. This guide will go through the key new features and functionality of FMA, show you how to deliver Windows apps to all your mobile users on any type of device, how to create and deliver server desktops, and how to configure the StoreFront server.
What do I do if I need help? To understand detailed product information, system requirements, and pre-reqs please reference Citrix eDocs product documentation. We have also asked our engineers and subject matter experts to actively monitor our XenApp 7.5 trial community forum to assist with all your questions and provide recommendations. Even if you don’t have a question, this is a great community to be a part of to learn how others are capitalizing on all the new features and benefits.
