Cisco and Citrix have a successful partnership through which we have delivered transformative solutions around BYOD, mobility, networking, desktop and application virtualization, and cloud.  Today, we are excited to announce another technology innovation from our joint partnership that addresses a  major issue enterprises face in adopting hybrid clouds - delivering secure interoperabilty across clouds.

At Citrix, we have witnessed first-hand the rapid growth in cloud adoption through our customers. Over the past 2.5 years, Citrix cloud infrastructure solutions have powered hundreds of clouds across both service providers and enterprises.  While many began witth a focus on specific use cases, they have grown rapidly and today our larger customers have over 40,000 servers in their clouds.  Our experience confirms a broader industry trend -  CIOs are accelerating cloud adoption and see cloud as one of their top 5 spending priorities for 2014.  Along with this growth, enterprises are looking to leverage a mix of private and public clouds.

This hybrid cloud scenario hinges on the ability to securely orchestrate workloads across the different clouds – to manage compute, storage, and applications across clouds while preserving corporate access and security policies.  Through the partnership between Cisco and Citrix, Citrix CloudPlatform powered by Apache CloudStack will interoperate with the newly announced Cisco InterCloud to securely orchestrate workloads across hybrid clouds.  Furthermore, through integrations with NetApp, CloudPlatform securely orchestrates the storage across hybrid clouds.  And with XenDesktop and XenApp running on CloudPlatform, customers can securely deliver desktop and application workloads across hybrid clouds.

A great example of how this integration will be used is with leading cloud provider, BT.  BTCloud runs on Citrix CloudPlatform and BT is leveraging the integrations between Citrix, Cisco and NetApp to offer enterprises the ability to extend their on-premise applications  to public clouds.  BT worked with Cisco, Citrix and NetApp to develop and launch its Cloud Compute services across 17 countries in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific.  The service is currently used by companies across different industries.  For example, life sciences companies can collaborate on crucial R&D projects using the BTCloud to improve time-to-market.  It is also used by leading international law firms to collaborate across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.

We are excited to partner with Cisco to provide hybrid cloud solutions that enable customers to support strategic business objectives by leveraging a world of many clouds.
