Most activities at Synergy are scheduled for a specific date and time. But in the spirit of flexible workstyles, we’ve also provided an on-demand learning choice so you can train when you’ve got some free time – on Wednesday evening, for example, or early Thursday morning. Synergy Self-paced Learning Labs are even available during the day and evening on Tuesday, May 21, so people arriving before the official conference kick-off can get a head start.

Walk-ins welcome!

No reservations are needed. Here are the hours:

  • Tuesday, May 21: 12:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 22: 2:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 23: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, May 24: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Another perk of Self-paced Learning Labs – we provide the workstations so you don’t need to bring your laptop.  There are 100 workstations so you can be confident of getting a seat when you’re ready to dive into a topic.

We also offer plenty of choices on subject matter and degree of expertise. Labs focus on a variety of Citrix products and solutions, from mobility to virtualization to cloud, and target three levels – introductory, intermediate and advanced.

Don’t miss these labs

There are more than a dozen labs to choose from, each lasting about 90 minutes. Here are my top recommendations:

SYN623: Enabling mobile workstyles with Me@Work apps: People want and expect to be able to work when and where they need – and on the device of their choice. And it’s up to IT professionals to manage these increasingly unique and diverse work preferences. Businesses that enable mobile workstyles by embracing consumer devices, apps and computing experiences are mobile enterprises. The Citrix Me@Work mobile app family addresses the key functions required to build a mobile enterprise, combining all the simplicity and user experience employees expect, with the security and control the business requires. If mobility is a priority for your organization, this Self-Paced Lab is for you. Learn how to implement our Me@Work Apps and configure policies to secure and protect your applications and data while providing optimal user experience.

SYN624: Getting started with the Project Avalon Excalibur release: The Excalibur release of Project Avalon is a milestone release in which desktop delivery technology from XenDesktop and application delivery technology from XenApp converge into one streamlined solution.  Whether you are an existing XenDesktop customer, XenApp customer, both or neither, this self-paced offering is for everyone. Learn how to deploy an Excalibur site and how it fits into your infrastructure – saving your company time and money.  Common use-cases will be covered and you’ll also have the opportunity to explore the environment on your own.

SYN630: Managing your service offerings using CloudPortal Services Manager: Citrix CloudPortal Services Manager transforms cloud infrastructures into profitable cloud businesses. Learn how to use this easy-to-use web portal that helps service providers manage the delivery of cloud services and gives true ITaaS to the enterprise. It provides out-of-the-box support for Desktop-as-a-Service and Windows apps (powered by Citrix XenApp), as well Exchange, Office, SharePoint, Lync, web hosting and more. Without any IT expertise, customers can add or change services, view reports and manage users.  With the automation and self-service provided with CloudPortal Services Manager, you’ll learn how to simplify your cloud services management.

SYN622: Implementing XenMobile MDM: XenMobile MDM is a robust mobile device management solution that delivers role-based management, configuration and security for both corporate and employee-owned devices. Users need the freedom to access all of their apps and data from any of their devices.  On the other hand, IT needs to provide the same security and compliance requirements to include all of the new devices that are introduced. A lost or stolen device, corporate and employee-owned, is a reality that can lead to a data breach and recovery costs averaging over $7 million.  Learn how to implement and integrate XenMobile MDM into your existing infrastructure – saving your company money and providing peace of mind.

SYN626: Extend your networking skill set by learning NetScaler fundamentals: NetScaler is a key component of the Citrix networking portfolio. Whether you are deploying virtualization or pure networking solutions, learning the basic concepts for web application load balancing and traffic optimization, will help you increase the robustness, reliability, and performance of any deployment. If you are getting started or want to refresh your networking concepts, this class will cover the fundamentals you’ll need to begin using NetScaler, the most advance cloud network platform in the industry.
