At Synergy Barcelona, just a few months ago, Citrix and Cisco announced an expanded partnership across the areas of networking, cloud, and mobility. Our goal is to jointly develop solutions and bring them to market on a regular basis to meet the demands of our mutual customers.
As we all know, IM, audio conferencing, and live meetings have become an integral part of how we work and how we communicate – not just professionally, but even with our friends and family. In an increasingly mobile world, we are looking for seamless ways to communicate across devices, time-zones, and people.
Which is why we are excited to further expand our partnership with Cisco to incorporate Jabber for virtual environments into the successful Cisco-Citrix VXI desktop virtualization initiative. Cisco is taking a unique approach in looking at collaboration as going beyond the standard productivity applications to include voice, video, and collaboration tools as integral components of a complete virtual workspace solution. By tuning Jabber for virtual environments, the goal is to make the transition across physical and virtual environments seamless. Coupled with the rich high-definition end-user experience that Citrix XenDesktop delivers across all devices, we are aiming to offer users a rich collaborative experience no matter where they are.
What is especially compelling about Cisco VXI with Citrix XenDesktop is that it’s a validated, end-to-end solution that both companies are continuing to enhance to support an expanded range of requirements, use cases and challenges that IT needs to address today and in the future. For example, by deploying Cisco VXI with Citrix XenDesktop today for workgroups requiring basic productivity and corporate apps, IT can simply scale the same VXI platform to support more sophisticated work groups such as mobile workers and executives that need a more complete virtual workspace on a broader range of devices.
