Citrix has a vision of “a world where anyone can work and play from anywhere” and provides products that span remote work, collaborative work, virtualization, networking, the cloud, and more. Our products, ecosystem, and customers take us well along the path to completing our vision. However, there are always new opportunities.
What’s next in networking and storage? What’s next in “cloud”? What comes beyond the desktop as we know it? How will consumerization change the enterprise next? What’s next in peer to peer? What innovation will change the mobile space? Are there more revolutionary shifts beyond ‘social’? How will the enterprise deal most effectively with the mobile device? How do we best deal with ever increasing network loads? How do we complete the cloud abstraction?
And, who’s going to bring the key innovations? Can Citrix help them get there?
Today we are announcing a new initiative from Citrix Labs, the Citrix Startup Accelerator; a corporate seed investment fund. We will be making investments – with minimal hassle – in early stage startup companies, and working closely with them on our Accelerator campus and globally. The goal is to validate their technologies, to help them succeed, and potentially contribute to the Citrix ecosystem. Some may even be acquired by Citrix in the longer term.
I’m very pleased to be joining the Accelerator team to bring a Citrix futures point of view. As part of the Citrix Labs organization I’ve spent a lot of time on technology trends, the dynamics of technology adoption, and a broad based view of enterprise computing. I work closely with all of the Citrix CTOs and thought leaders, and have been involved with many of the Citrix product expansions over the last eight years. I work across all Citrix product organizations and provide an internal and external technology futurist point of view.
My new colleague John McIntyre and I will be looking for great early stage start-ups with visions and products that could contribute to the next generation of “a world where anyone can work and play from anywhere”‘. Do you have any ideas? I’d love to work with you to make them real.
